FISHING TRIPS 781-771-6235 COD TRIPS Special $1170.00 Stellwagen Bank is one of the richest fishing grounds closest to shore, with Green Harbor in Marshfield, Mass having the shortest steaming time to it. Our cod fishing trips are 10-11 hours dock to dock. Traveling time to the fishing grounds is generally only about 1-½ hours each way. This allows for more fishing time than most other companies. The fishing on Stellwagen Bank is one of the most dynamic fisheries that take place on this large & nutrient rich area. Our catches normally consist of Codfish, Haddock, Pollack, Wolf fish with Cusk and Hake and an occasional Monkfish. Departures are normally around 4 a.m. weather and tides permitting with arrival times generally return at 3 p.m. Our prices will include all of your tackle consisting of rods & reels, bait, jigs, etc. The only thing not included will be your food & drink and a tip for the mate generally consisting of 15 to 20%. The Cod fishing has been spectacular and runs year round, with peak months being November through June. All of the other months’ we still catch Cod fish in good numbers. These fish range in size from 8 lbs. up to 80 lbs. with the majority of them in the 10 to 50 lb. range. During these months we have a large increase in other species consisting of Haddock 5 to 20 lbs., Pollack 8 to 30 lbs., Cusk 3 to 20 lbs., Hake up to 30 lbs. and also delicious Red fish. All of these species are very tasty and consist of flaky white meat, which makes for some excellent fish dinners. All in all, every day that you go fishing will be a wonderful and enjoyable experience and something that you will want to do year after year. Blue water Charters was the first charter boat out of Green Harbor to fish Stellwagen Bank for Cod dating back to 1973. COMBINATION TRIPS Special For the not so serious fishermen, couples or families combination trips are very versatile and can be mixed and matched to your specific needs or desires. One of our more popular trips consist of some Stripe Bass & Blue fishing along Race Point early in the morning along with some whale watching or Fluke fishing if desired and then for the afternoon we can take you into scenic Province Town one of the most historic and picturesque towns in Massachusetts & Cape Cod for a quaint lunch or some outstanding shopping in the local boutiques. Finishing up the day with a little more Bass fishing. These trips generally depart around 5 a.m. most of the time with a spectacular sun rise and return approximately 4 p.m. The best time to schedule one of these trips is from the middle of June thru September. TUNA TRIPS Special ($215.00 per person) Our Blue fin Tuna Fishery consists of both Giants greater than 73 inches in length and weights from 230 lbs. up to 1200 lbs. to School fish which are less than 73 inches and under 230 lbs. Giant Blue fin Tuna are by far one of the top 3 game fish in the world. With speeds in excess of 50 knots and trans-Atlantic travel exceeding 3,000 + miles in a matter of weeks, they are considered in a class by themselves. With the ability to change direction in the blink of an eye, and aerodynamically designed bodies that move through the water with the least amount of resistance, they are one of the most amazing fish to land with a rod & reel! As the regulations stand today, Giant Blue fin larger than 73 inches must be retained by the permitted vessel. Generally people that fish for these giants are trophy hunters and not catching them for the meat. When fishing for Giant Blue fin we will return $300.00 back to you if one is caught. The School Blue fin fishery smaller than 73 inches is by far our most popular Blue fin Tuna charter. These fish belong to the charter and make for excellent eating. Blue fin Tuna is a worldwide delicacy, delicious served raw as sushi or cooked on a grill. The daily bag limits for Blue fin Tuna vary from year to year. This limit fluctuates from one to three fish per day per vessel. Once we catch our limit for the day, all other fish that are hooked must be tagged & released. School size tuna are usually fought on light stand up gear in the trolling configuration. All fishing tackle is state of the art and provided free of charge. The season for Blue fins begins in July and runs through October. Over the past 35 years, the Giant Blue fin Tuna fishery has gone thru some dramatic changes. From the early beginnings when Tuna fish were only worth .03 per pound thru some of the high prices paid in the mid to late 80’s and then back down to some of the very low prices presently being paid, Captain Kevin Scola has been there! Year in and year out following these magnificent creatures. Having caught Giant Blue fin Tuna as large as 1185 lbs. in numbers exceeding 1, 297 landed so far, you can be rest assured that there will be no lack of knowledge. So come along and Enjoy the Experience!!! STRIPED BASS & BLUES TRIP ($195.00 per person) The Striped Bass & Blue fishing in and around Cape Cod is nothing short of phenomenal. Stripe Bass generally start to show up around the beginning of June and stay until the first week in October. Bass & Blues are considered one of Massachusetts premiere sport fish. Bass generally range in sizes up to 60 lbs. with the majority falling in the 20 to 40 lb. range. Blue fish pound for pound are one of the best game fish especially when fought on light tackle. Both Bass & Blues make for excellent table food with Blue fish being preferred mostly on the grill. Most of our fishing is done trolling with a variety of rigs. Our Bass & Blue trips usually depart around 5 a.m. and will return at approximately 3 p.m. Bass are regulated with a landing limit varying from 1-2 fish per person per day depending on the regulations for that year at that time. Once our limit of Stripers is caught, all other Bass must be released. Prices will include everything except your food & drink and the tip for the Mate. All fishing tackle will be provided free of charge. SHARK FISHING We generally see a few more Makos from late July into August with Porbeagles showing up as the water-cools down in September & October. All of these sharks are excellent table food with the exception of the Blue shark. Although Blue sharks are quite formidable and fun to catch on light tackle, they do not make for very good dinners. Mako’s Porbeagles, etc. on the other hand, are a whole different story. The aerial antics of these Makos are what stories are made of and are truly something to behold with speeds that can reach upwards to 55 knots making them the fastest shark in the ocean. Their jumping ability can easily catapult them clear of the water by as much as 3 body lengths. They are also by far one of the finer dinner plates you will come across. Makos range from legal size 150 lbs. up to 1400 lb fish, which is the largest Mako ever, recorded and landed in Green Harbor, MA. This fish was caught by us at Blue water Charters and unfortunately could not be weighed for 36 hours. By the time it was weighed, the official recorded weight was 1324 lbs. This Mako ended up winning the Mass. State Governor’s Cup Award as well as setting a new state record for Makos. Blue water Charters also landed a 411 lb Porbeagle by Angler Jay Martin, who chartered us with a group of friends. This fish although missing the state record by just 3 lbs ended up winning the Massachusetts State Governor’s Cup Trophy Award for largest Porbeagle. Blue water Charters has by far landed the most amount of sharks in Green Harbor, MA. Blue water Charters is also the only charter boat out of Green Harbor to land not only one but two Great White sharks. These landings occurred years ago when it was legal to do so. Unfortunately today, although they are a tremendous game fish, and truly tasty, all Great White sharks are protected and must be released. Threshers and Tigers on the other hand can be landed with Makos and Porbeagles. These sharks are some of the best game fish you will battle on a rod & reel and make for great eating as well. So come along and enjoy the experience of shark fishing and battling one of the greatest predators of all times. One that has existed for over 300 million years virtually unchanged & is also the only creature to be cancer free.
